I love my daughters' new dress bags! OK, I guess they're not that new- they were a Christmas gift from a doting grandmother (don't we love them!?!)- but we've had the time now to try them out for a few months of shows and feiseanna, and I just had to share my joy of this wonderful product!
Each girl got a Kelso Custom Cover Traveling Wedge under the tree. Each bag comes with a lining in the middle to separate dresses from each other so the 2 don't rub against each other, and comes with two rods from which to hang dresses separately. Each girl now carries one bag that contains her velvet school team dress and her sequined school dress. There's a pocket that is perfect for carrying bloomers, although I wouldn't recommend it for carrying anything squishable, like a tiara or wig. Still, it's great for socks or tights and matching knickers for the dresses! Eldest daughter got one in Emerald, youngest in Pink, the insides are all black, as are the straps and zippers. Grandma didn't have time to get the embroidery done, but we hope to get a local to do that for us. From what my mother says, the customer service was truly excellent, the person with whom she chatted extremely helpful. IIRC, we got two different sizes, and I must admit, at times the eldest's school dress (a wide-skirted solo-style) is a bit long, the hem of the skirt brushes the bottom of the bag. But this is a minor complaint- the skirt really is long! The handles and straps are sturdy and broad, so won't cut into your palm or shoulder no matter how far across the parking lot you have to hike. The dowel-holder is wide and accommodating so you don't waste time trying to thread it into a teensy hole, yet we haven't had any problems with the dowel falling out, either. For me, though, the reel/real selling point of the bags is the reinforced edges. The web site doesn't lie: there's a 2", sturdy plastic siding all around the edges. This helps the bag keep its shape and offers additional protection to the dresses within. I have no qualms about stacking the two dress bags on top of each other for fear of "squishing" the ones underneath. No more carrying multiple dress bags! Kudos to Kelso! |
